That Christmas Feeling

I have had a hard time getting into the Christmas Feeling.
I pictured our Christmas including Ashanti so I was struggling...
Until yesterday.
Our family went to a special Christmas party.
As we walked into the room they handed us a big bag of carmels and a gift card to Picaboo.
They served us a yummy breakfast of eggs and ham, hash browns and a very yummy biscuit along with orange juice.
After Breakfast we sat in chairs and the kids colored and made Christmas lists for Santa.
Then Santa came and read to the kids.
After Santa left some Cougars (BYU football players) came and help the kids each pick a new handmade blanket, a book, a bag full of kid stuff and a new teddy bear.
I know it sounds like a fairly average party...
but it wasn't.
This party was for foster families.
I looked around and realized how much was put into to making this party special.
The time,
the love,
the talents of volunteers who would have been very busy for months preparing the blankets and bags,
the businesses that donated the bears and others gifts,
the people who donate money to help make this Christmas special for these families...
for these children.
As I pondered on all of these things my heart was full and I couldn't stop the tears from stinging my eyes.
While there is much turmoil in the world
and
stories about uncaring people who do horrible things
I was sitting among angels.
Angels who love children.
There was something else too.... a special feeling....an overwhelming feeling of love.
I believe there was another guest there...
unseen but very much felt.

I am so grateful for those who helped make this party happen.
Our family had a great time
and
it gave me what I had been missing....
that Christmas feeling.
