After spending 4 nights at Primary Children's Medical Center with Spencer I am so thankful to be home! I have been pondering on the blessing it is to have medical help so available to us. It is so scary to watch your child deal with a health issue. I am so thankful for people who take time to go to school and be trained to become doctors and nurses. The professionals who watched over Spencer were fantastic!!! They went above and beyond to help my little guy get better and help him feel comfortable. One special nurse helped us with information that was incorrect in Spencer's file....it took alot of effort on her part to track down the people who had the authority to give the ok to get things fixed. She was determined to get it all fixed before we left the hospital! Her actions were a great act of kindness.
When my Mom was a little girl she became ill with Polio. She watched other children die from it, become wheelchair bound or have to be in an iron lung.....But thankfully my Mom made it through without any complications. She later got the Measles and also the Mumps. I grew up with a Mother who was always expressed gratitude for modern medicine and for vaccines from these horrible illnesses.
I count Modern Medicine as a Miracle and proof that the Heavenly Father is aware of us and loves his children!
Spencer is getting better...every day I see improvements. We are still visiting "suction" clinics to check his oxygen and get him cleaned out to help him eat. But we are down to one visit a day. I take Spencer to see his pediatrician tomorrow where we will be making a plan to help avoid asthma issues in the future. Spencer was diagnosed with Reactive Airway Disease. I was told by one of the docs at the hospital that Spencer's pediatrician is excellent with this type of issue....so I know we are in good hands!
Today I am counting my blessings....especially the health of my little boy!
