Lose 40 pounds by my 40th Birthday...come join me!

Each New Year we make goals to change things in our lives.   There is one goal that seems to be forever on my list.   But this year it needs to be marked off as accomplished so I can work on staying healthy the rest of my life.
In December 2011 I did something I never thought I could do...I stuck to a healthy eating and exercise plan smack in the middle of the holiday season and I continued moving forward on my goals.   Even during and after surgery to remove a ovarian cyst I continued to work on this goal.   But then later in the year something stopped me in my tracks and I let go of my goal and stopped caring.  I had a large follicular cyst rupture on the same ovary I had just had surgery on only a few months before.   I had to make some big decisions on what to do next to help prevent future cyst issues.   It was a physically painful and emotionally taxing time.   I grieved the last bit of hope of a pregnancy and took inventory of my life.   While the grief went quickly because I was ready to let it all go finally....I went through a "feeling blue" period and didn't really want to do anything outside of my home.  I shuffled through and continued to move forward with life but not with my goals.

I have had other goals throughout my life just as important to me as health but there has always been this feeling called "fear" that I let stand in my way.  I decided as I closed the door on "hope" of a pregnancy and finally said goodbye and shut that door it was time to start looking around and opening myself up to my dreams.   I decided to stop being afraid and start writing so I joined Deseret Connect and was excited to not only be approved to be part of the "group", I ended up having two articles published fairly quickly.   It took alot to make myself just do it but I did it and I learned alot about myself.   That saying  "feel the fear and do it anyway" was my mantra as I forced myself to write and then open my writing up to someones opinion.  It was hard but I am so glad I did it!

So here I am on the precipice of turning 40 years old and I want to accomplish this goal of health.   I am 100 pounds overweight but realistically I know I cannot maintain 132 pounds so right now I want to focus on losing  40 pounds by my 40th birthday.   I turn 40 on August 20th so I have plenty of time.

I may not be perfect in this journey to health but I am committing to move forward even on days when I want to quit!

If you would like to join me please meet here at my blog each Thursday and share how you did during the week, share recipes or tips you have learned or share a link to your blog post where you share what you are doing to lose weight and gain health.    There is more support in numbers ....
I hope you will join me!

I really need to get motivated and do this. I was thinking of making a FB page though. Would you think of making one? I have gained almost 20 pounds with this adoption and I don't even recognize myself anymore ;(
