Getting Ready for Conference

We are getting excited for the LDS General Conference coming up this Saturday and Sunday!    This week for Family Home Evening we talked about having a Living Prophet on the earth and the blessings we receive from listening and following the Prophet's counsel.   I am preparing booklets for the kids to use during conference so our FHE activity was to color and decorate their booklet cover.

For the boys booklets I just printed off the one on lds.org   For the girls booklet I used images from the Friend magazine and glued them onto the top of 5 card stock strips.   Under each picture there is plenty of room to write a few notes from their talk.   There are some really great ready to print booklets out there on the internet but I wanted it to be very simple and for my girls to focus on the Prophet and Apostles words and not so much on games.    We will be doing bingo cards printed from lds.org.

I found a great recipe for some healthy chocolate chip cookies.   It includes lower amount of brown sugar, some yummy oatmeal and chick peas....yes I said chick peas.   They turned out great and they were a hit!

Conference Countdown:  I wanted something to do during the week that will keep the kids excited about conference.   So this week each day my kids are going on a hunt to find a certain ingredient I have hidden in the house.   Attached to each item is a quote from a conference talk from last conference in Oct 2011.   By Friday night all the ingredients will be gathered and Saturday morning we will be making a trifle for our Saturday Conference treat.
