Let me live in a house by the side of the road,
Where the race of men go by—
The men who are good and the men who are bad,
As good and as bad as I.

I would not sit in the scorner’s seat,
Or hurl the cynic’s ban;—
Let me live in a house by the side of the road
And be a friend to man.
~Sam Walter Foss

I came across this poem in a talk given by President Gordon B. Hinckley.

Recently I had an experience that left me feeling sad and hurt. I know this person doesn't realize that they hurt me but it has been hard to battle off feelings of anger. I don't want to have bad feelings about anyone. I have tried taking different approaches to this situation trying to find something to help me think of the positive things and let the other go. It worked ok for a bit but the feelings kept returning.
During this time I had been doing some soul searching and as I looked within myself and sought forgiveness from God for a mistakes I have made... I thought of this person and I was able to see things more clearly. I could see this person more clearly and I realized I need to just forgive them. They have no idea that I was hurting and they are so busy with other things they didn't mean to do what they did. I was able to let love in and let go of the hurt.
If the Lord can forgive me then I can surely forgive is silly to hang on to silly things.
Writing helps me let go of feelings...this is why I write about this.
I am letting go and embracing the forgiving heart!

great post! Its a lot easier to live life with a forgiving heart then to hold it in and let it ruin us! Love the poem!

I feel like you wrote this for me. :) I just wrote on my blog about how I have been hurt by a friend as well, and I'm trying, like you, to get through it and soften my heart to forgive them. Thank you so much for writing this. You took the words right out of my mouth.

I loved this post Brenda, and I just hope that I am not the one who has made you feel bad! Because I love you! And I hope you know that. I need to come over and see your cute baby.....I have been meaning to. Let me know when a good time would be. And BTW, thanks for the bag of baby clothes. Me and Jessica were both able to use them!
